| Building and Zoning |
|
Effective March 24, 2006.
All building and zoning for the City of Sylvester will be administered by Sandy Almand. Sandy may be reached at P.O. Box 370, 229-776-8505 or at 101 N. Main Street, Sylvester, GA 31791. Hours are 8am - 11:30am, Monday - Thursday.

| New Utilities |
|
To begin your new utility service in Sylvester you must do the following procedures:
1. Have picture ID (driver's License).
2. Social Security card.
3. Rent Receipt.
4. Service Charge for:
Lights - $50.00
Water - $10.00
Gas - $20.00
The Service is Non-refundable.
5. Deposit for services:
Lights - $50.00
Water - $50.00
Gas - $50.00
The Deposit is applied to final bill or transfered to a new location if your going to have services with the city.
6. To have services turned on you need to
come into city hall before 1:30 p.m.
7. Work orders are done Mon - Fri between
3:30 & 5:00.
8. Transfering of service from one address to another is $20.00.
9. Reconnection fee for delinquent bill is $60.00. Bill must be paid with cash before 4:30pm for reconnection.

The previously advertised deadline of July 30, 2010 for the Request for Qualifications for the below listed projects has been extended to August 23, 2010 at 2:00 P.M.
Notice to Engineering Firms For Request For Qualifications On City of Sylvester, GDOT CSHPP-0007-00(622), Worth County P.I. #0007622, Isabella Street Pedestrian Facilities and GDOT CSMSL-0007-00(914),Worth County PI#0007914, City of Sylvester Streetscape.
The City of Sylvester, P. O. Box 370, Sylvester, Georgia 31791 is interested in retaining an engineering firm for work on the following projects.
Scope of Work
These projects are for construction of a multi-use pedestrian path originating at US Hwy 82 and proceeding to the North to Bryant Drive and for continuation of the downtown streetscape on Kelly Street. These projects improve intermodal transportation facilities which include 8’ concrete path, historically styled street lighting, crosswalks, ADA curb ramps and signage. A rest node will be located at the Sylvester Primary School. This area will be comprised of a seating area, bicycle provisions, and a drinking fountain. This will include preparation of preliminary plans, specs, and final design, surveying, preparation of bid documents, assistance in bid opening, bid analysis, management of contractor performance, inspections, preparation of change orders, approval of request for payments, preparation and submittal of all required reports and documentation to GA DOT and other duties not limited to the above.
Firms will be evaluated on the following:
Possession of high ethical and professional standing, education and experience of the firm in the required discipline(s); current workload and staff available to perform all functions needed in the proposed scope of work, including qualified personnel in other disciplines; principal and reasonable engineers on the firm’s staff with adequate experience in the fields of the proposed scope of work and who have been in responsible charge of work of a similar or greater complexity; demonstrated ability of meeting schedules without jeopardizing the quality of work or engineering; financial soundness of the firm; and MBE participation.
The purpose of the evaluation is to select three (3) or more firms to make a presentation to the City of Sylvester and submit a price proposal. Each of the above listed factors will be given relatively equal importance in the evaluation. In order for a firm to be evaluated, the firm must be pre-qualified with the Georgia Department of Transportation to perform within the scope of services required. Specific searches will be made for firms qualified to provide services of an unusual or specialized nature. Minorities will be considered.
