The Community Development Department administers current city land use policies and provides planning for future land uses. The Community Development Director is Glenice Stephens.

The Community Development Department mission is to ensure courteous, consistent, and professional assistance through quality management of the department according to the regulations adopted by the Mayor and Council as well as regulations set forth by the State of Georgia.

The vision of the City of Sylvester Community Development is to improve and maintain the present and future quality of life for all residents, businesses, and visitors within the City Limits of Sylvester, Georgia. The City of Sylvester Community Development encompasses Planning and Zoning, Building Permits and Inspections, Business Licenses, and Code Enforcement.
