Our City

Sylvester is the county seat of Worth County in Southwest Georgia. Its population is 5,644 and the municipal footprint covers 5.7 square miles. We are predominantly an agriculture economy, growing peanuts, cotton, corn, pecans and produce. We are often dubbed the “Peanut Capital of the World” due to our peanut production.

Agribusiness is Georgia’s leading industry. The state’s agribusiness as a whole contributes a $56.7 billion impact to the state’s economy and Sylvester and Worth County alone generate $125 million through agriculture-based business.
